Paws in the Park 2012
Is everyone ready for the 12th annual Paws in the Park?! We sure are! The Humane Educational Society plans to take a different approach this year. Paws in the Park has been pretty uniform each year, but this year there will be several new events and a theme - "Who Rescued Who?"
For anyone who is not familiar with the Paws in the Park, it is one of the largest fundraisers the HES holds each year! It is a celebration of rescued pets and how they have contributed to their families. The event is held at the lovely Baylor School campus, and your dogs are welcome (encouraged)! There are a number of fun events, especially the dog walk around the campus.
The Spaw will have a booth at Paws in the Park this year, and we hope to see you there! We will be giving out free treat samples, coupon books, and brochures. Make sure you stop by and give Toto some love!

Paws in the Park 2011
The HES's 11th annual Paws in the Park was on Sunday, October 9th, 2011 and the turn out was great! There were four fun pooch-packed contests, and a ball throw in which adopted dog, Bodie, got to choose the winner! There was a dog walk and plenty of adoptable babies that got to spend a fun day out in the sun shine. In fact, Petey (below), got picked by the AnimatedCanine's disk dog trainers to show how great shelter dogs are - he is a natural with the frisbees! Overall, the turnout was great. We hope to see everyone next year at the 12th annual Paws in the Park, held on the Baylor school campus. This is the biggest fundraiser of the YEAR for the Humane Educational Society, supporting their Getting to Zero campaign. So bring your dogs along next year for food, fun, and plenty of pooches!
The Humane Educational Society's Mega Adopt-A-Thon!
The HES held a HUGE Adopt-A-Thon, along with the help of a couple other shelters and PetSmart Charities. Their goal was 100 adoptions. No one thought we could reach that goal, but we excelled - 182 adoptions in just 3 DAYS!

About Me, Emily...
I am a self-trained groomer who has been in the business for five years. I have groomed everything from Bedlington Terriers to White Shepherds. I love what I do and I don't think I would ever change career fields. I hope to go to the Paragon School for Grooming in Michigan. I have a pampered Bichon Frise puppy named Bella, a very lazy old Labrador mix named Dottie, and our two newest additions - a sweet little Cairn terrier mix named Toto, and a Rottweiler mix named Bandit; as well as plenty of shelter babies that I consider my own! I have been volunteering at the Humane Educational Society since April of 2010, and I love every minute of it. Seeing my groomed babies get adopted makes me realize why I love this business so much!
