Grooming Policies
Payment
Payment is due upon completion of service. I accept cash and personal checks only. If your check bounces, you will be responsible for paying cash within 7 days. Correct change is always required and you may not "charge" and pay later. If the fee is not paid, you may not be able to book infinitely.
Cancellations
I understand that your schedule may change, but please advise me at least 24 hours ahead of time. Repeat cancellations may result in the inability to book for 30 days, or infinitely if cancellations are still an issue.
Appointments canceled in less than 24 hours will be charged a $10 fee.

No Shows
If I show up to groom your pet at the scheduled time and you are not home, you may be charged a fee between $10 and $20. Repeat offenses may result in the inability to book for thirty days, or infinitely if the problem continues.
Temperament
If your pet has any behavioral issues, please advise me prior to ANY interaction with your pet. This will not affect whether or not your pet is groomed, but will aid in keeping myself and the pet safer.
I am trained and experienced with handling skittish animals. I volunteer at the Humane Educational Society, and I have dealt with many shy, fearful, and aggressive animals. Using a gentle touch and lots of reinforcement through slow introduction, treats, and frequent breaks, your pet will learn that being groomed isn't so bad after all!
I allow a standard 15 minutes for your pet to get used to me, if needed. During this time, you may speak with me and allow me to perform regular activities, so your pet is less frightened by any equipment or loud noises. If your appointment exceeds its regular time by 30 minutes, due to your pet's behavior, additional fees may preside.

Vaccinations
All pets must have proof, and be up to date, on their Rabies vaccination. I will require your pet's licensing paperwork or vet's paperwork. RABIES TAGS DO NOT COUNT AS "PROOF"!! If your pet is less than 17 weeks old and has not received his or her Rabies vaccine, please let me know. Certain breeds require proof of ALL vaccinations. If your breed requires all vaccines, they should have received the following vaccines at each life stage:
- 6-8 weeks [DAPM] - Distemper, Adenovirus 2 (hepatitis), Parainfluenza, Measles
- 9-10 weeks [DAPPC] - Distemper, Adenovirus 2 (hepatitis), Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Coronavirus
- 12-14 weeks [DAPPLCB] - Distemper. Adenovirus 2, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Leptospira, Coronavirus, Bordetella
- 17+ weeks [PR] - Parvovirus, Rabies
Health
If your pet has any health problems that are not contagious (seizures, arthritis, etc.), please tell me so I can make them more comfortable during grooming. If they are sick with any contagious disease, there will be an additional $30 handling fee. You MUST tell me of their illness during scheduling so no more grooming appointments are scheduled for that day. I try to avoid cross-contamination.
If your pet is ill with any of the following, they CAN NOT be groomed until they are totally healthy again, due to the severity of the disease:

Injuries
The chance of your pet being injured during grooming is not likely, but it is possible. Should your pet be seriously harmed during grooming, The Spaw will not be held accountable for any vet bills, although your grooming will be free. Some injuries can be easily resolved at home such as nail quicking or clipper burn, and in that case, $10 will be deducted from your fee. Other injuries may require immediate veterinary attention such as lacerations or proptosed globe (where the eye becomes disconnected from the socket), and your grooming will be completely free of charge.
Prior to grooming, you will be required to fill out a grooming form (below) on you and your pet(s), provide vet information, and sign an injury/illness waiver and release (below). Safety is our number one goal, along with trust. Allowing someone to care for your pet is placing a large amount of trust in that person to do it right and be honest if injuries occurred during grooming. I would like to strengthen that bond by being honest and straightforward when it comes to injuries.

Injuries or Other Incidents
The Spaw takes all precautions to keep your pet from being lost, stolen, or injured during the duration of the pet sitting. However, petnapping has become more and more common, and pets are notorious for finding ways to get out of confinement areas - especially during storms, or if they are very attached to their owners. The Spaw cannot be held accountable for any injuries, stolen pets, or missing pets.
The Spaw will aid in the search for your pet. I am a volunteer with the Humane Educational Society and am responsible for matching lost pets with their owners. I will go through every effort necessary to match you with your lost pet.
Prior to any service, you will be required to fill out a form on you and your pet, provide vet info, and sign a waiver and release form. Service and trust are our first priority, but sometimes incidences happen when your pet is with unfamiliar people.
